Overview

PathStone’s Child & Development Services program provides comprehensive child development services to economically disadvantaged children and families, with a special focus on promoting the school readiness of children ages birth to 5 by supporting their development in a comprehensive way. We promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families. We engage our parents in their children’s learning and help them in making progress toward their educational, literacy and employment goals. PathStone’s offering of a variety of Head Start program gives parents two different options which include both home-based option and center-based options. In various locations, PathStone offers Early Head Start, Head Start, Migrant & Seasonal Head Start and Pre-K Counts programs.

Overview

Adams County Head Start programs promote the educational, mental, social, and emotional readiness of young children from low-income families by supporting the comprehensive development of children from age 3- 5.

Our Head Start classrooms are located in Biglerville, East Berlin, Gettysburg, Littlestown, McSherrystown, New Oxford, Orrtanna, and York Springs.

​ACHS recognizes that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers and welcome parent involvement in all areas of the program.

Mission Statement: The Adams County Head Start program will provide an environment where income eligible children and their families are safe, enriched, and empowered.  Opportunities will be provided to children and their families to:  build self-esteem, enhance strengths, stimulate creativity, and promote self-sufficiency.
